Icicles
01:08
|
|||
frozen in a constant meltdown
this is how the season felt
how many songs have been written about
precisely what i'm singing about?
and still i feel compelled to describe...
is there anything more beautiful
than snowfall forming icicles?
long enough to kill
but so delicate and still
half-translucent, sharp, and smoky
like crystal molds of sharks teeth
and one day they will be just puddles at our feet
as we walk into a warmer world

December Man
02:57
|
|||
eleven months out of the year
while Santa Claus is growing his beard
he practices his dance moves in a studio he shares
with a couple other dudes from the North Pole dancing crew
they watch in disbelief and ask "who taught you those moves?"
they call him December Man
a style rooted in ballet
but in a hip-hop kind of way
imagine breakdance meets the Nutcracker
never seen nobody move that way!
in a bright red leotard, moving fast and moving hard
people gather in a circle and ask "who do you think you are?"
he says "i'm December Man"
eating cookies and milk on break
wiping the sweat from off his face
tonight's the competition and he's coming in first place
the judges just can't believe
this guy's the freshest thing they've seen
they offer him the lead in the Christmas special
he says "i'm sorry but i have somewhere to be
that night i'm December Man"
that's why i'm December Man
tonight i'm December Man
call me December Man

i've never seen a December as bad as this
i ought to stay inside tonight but i can't resist
i want to be there by your side
you say, have you gone crazy or just snowblind?
just look out your window now
just look out your window, see the snow falling down
just look out your window, you can't even see the ground
with all the snow coming down
i make my way through the tunnels of the night
i keep a steady pace with my jacket pulled so tight
snowfall blurrying my sight
but such a beautiful design
just look out your window now
just look out your window, see the snow falling down
just look out your window, you can't even see the ground
with all the snow coming down
i say i don't care i just want to see you right now
i mean right now
when i come in from the frost
good love makes frozen things turn hot

A Cowboy’s Christmas
01:12
|
|||
flask of whiskey hidden in a tree
my mistletoe is tumbleweed
trade your reindeer sleigh for a horse to feed
yipee ky-oh, yippe ky-ee
haven't been home since Halloween
robbed a bank and fled the scene
now i'm all alone on Christmas Eve
it's a cowboy's Christmas for me
a cowboy's Christmas on the road
making my way to Mexico
where i'll stand on the beach in my cowboy clothes
"howdy there friends, ho ho ho"
built a firepit from sticks and stones
merry baked beans, spiked hot cocoa
if you see me traveling, wave hello
i'll play a Christmas carol on my old banjo
yippee ky-ee, yippe ky-oh
nowhere to run, look out below
yippee ky-oh and a yippee ky-ee
it's a cowboy's Christmas for me

This Way, Santa
03:11
|
|||
i was sitting on the porch with my headphones on
when you came busting through the door with a 2x4
i looked up and trembled and your eyes met mine
you said, "son today we're gonna make a sign"
make a sign
you said "in a couple of weeks, Santa's gonna come
he's gonna visit all our rooftops one by one
but it gets dark at night and his journey's long
and he'll need our help to guide him on"
guide him on
and the high noon sun lit up the whole street
as you laid our brushes out and sat down next to me
you said "we got all day so let's take our time
first things first, let's paint the whole thing white"
i watched your steady hand weave and glide
in the window, mama watching out the corner of her eye
always out the corner of her eye
we never took our eyes off the work
as evening fell and the sky got dark
then i had to look away as you sawed the edges off
into an arrowhead pointed straight and sharp
straight and sharp
you never knew how to love me
you never had much to say
but i remember that day
your hand over mine
painting line by line
it said "this way Santa"
this way
this way

i got a job at the Fairgrounds Mall
dressing up as Santa Claus
close enough to the food court halls
that i can smell the arteries clog
got to admit i kinda feel like a fraud
i don't even believe in God
but here i sit perpetuating it all
asking brats what they really want
have a seat on the old man's lap
tell him if you've been good or bad
have a seat on the old man's lap
whisper in his ear
what you want this year
have a seat on the old man's lap
have a seat on the old man's lap
a lump of coal or a pile of crap
have a seat on the old man's lap
the beard stinks and the clothing fits all wrong
but hey, a job's a job
so have a seat on the old man's lap
closing time is about 11 o'clock
the closest bar is just a couple of blocks
it's Christmas Eve, i look down at my watch
there's no time to take the costume off
there's a lady sitting across the bar
she says to me, "hey there handsome, i know who you are
you were talking to my kid but i was checking you out from afar
my Christmas wish came true after all"
i slid real close to her and i said
have a seat on the old man's lap
got something for you in my burlap sack
have a seat on the old man's lap
i ain't working overtime
but hell, for just one night
have a seat on the old man's lap
have a seat on the old man's lap
tell him if you've been good or bad
have a seat on the old man's lap
whisper in his ear
what you want this year
have a seat on the old man's lap

Apocalypsmas
01:40
|
|||
if the world ends on December 25th
i will be proud to go down with the ship
as long as there's time to unwrap our gifts
and kiss you on the lips
happiness is apocalypsmas
end of the world, good as it gets
no time to cry, no pain, no regrets
A-P-O-C-A-L-Y-P-S-M-A-S
everything good must come to an end
bad things as well but we don't mention them
from a distance the sleigh bells sound like four horsemen
it's apocalypsmas, friends
happiness is apocalypsmas
joy to the world, one pure moment of bliss
we waited all year, it all comes down to this
A-P-O-C-A-L-Y-P-S-M-A-S
